Coronavirus: Future Global Sports statement - what to do and how to respond
As you may have seen in the news the coronavirus is now a global pandemic that will disrupt normal day-to-day life for the foreseeable future. It is a virus that can prove life-threatening or even fatal.
Future Global Sports would therefore like to release the following statement offering guidance to our clients and colleagues with the aim of keeping you informed and knowing what to do.
What is coronavirus?
COVID-19 is a new illness that can affect your lungs and airways. It's caused by a virus called coronavirus.
How does coronavirus spread?
Because it's a new illness, it is not yet known exactly how coronavirus spreads from person to person. Similar viruses are spread in cough droplets.
It is unlikely it can be spread through things like packages or food.
How can I avoid catching or spreading coronavirus?
You can minimise the risk to both yourself and the people around you by doing the following. This is the official government advice provided by the NHS.
Do
wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
always wash your hands when you get home or into work. Before and after training, etc.
use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards
try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
Don't
do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean
How do I know if I have coronavirus?
The main symptoms that indicate you may have coronavirus are:
* a high temperature – you feel hot to touch on your chest or back
* a new, continuous cough – this means you've started coughing repeatedly
What do I do if I think I have coronavirus?
It is extremely important that you stay at home if you have coronavirus symptoms. You could feel well in yourself, but could be putting those around you including loved ones at serious risk.
If you have any of the above symptoms you MUST stay at home for 7 days. Do not attend training or games - call your manager or captain and explain the situation.
Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.
You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you're staying at home.
Testing for coronavirus is not needed if you're staying at home.
The risks
The elderly (over 60) and people with underlying health conditions are most vulnerable in this situation. In Italy, hundreds of people have died because the symptoms were overlooked and spread rapidly, overwhelming the country’s health system. Though you may feel well in yourself, you could end up infecting others around you creating a chain reaction.
Do NOT take risks under any circumstances. Self-isolate and distance yourself from social situations for 7 days.
At the moment all professional football is suspended until April 3rd pending further announcements. In semi-professional / non-league football the games are planned to go ahead this weekend pending further announcements.
The best way to manage this situation is to not put yourself or others at risk.
-No handshakes - fist-bumps will do
-Wash your hands regularly and for 20 seconds with soap
-Self-isolate for 7 days. Do not go out into social situations and do not play football if you have symptoms.

Sam Mvemba signs with Future Global Sports
Ade Yusuff signs with Future Global Sports
Future Global Sports is delighted to announce that Ade Yusuff has appointed us to represent him on an exclusive basis.
Yusuff, 25, is an exciting and talented striker who scored 50 goals in 101 appearances for his most recent club, Folkestone Invicta, earning him a summer move to Dulwich Hamlet in the National League South.
This season he has three goals in six appearances including two goals in four games during a short loan spell at Tonbridge Angels.
Yusuff started his career at Stevenage FC and has enjoyed several spells in non-league including at Chatham Town, where he scored 24 goals in 38 appearances to earn a move to Dagenham and Redbridge in the Football League in 2014.
Loan spells at St. Albans City, Leatherhead, East Thurrock United and Welling United were to follow, before Yusuff rejoined Chatham Town in 2016. In November 2016 Yusuff moved to Heybridge Swifts, scoring five goals in 21 appearances, before joining Folkestone Invicta in July 2017.
It is at Folkestone where Yusuff really demonstrated the prolific goalscorer he can be, scoring 50 goals in 101 appearances. “He’s good in the air, strong and quick. His record’s good and he’s a good lad,” his former manager Neil Cugley commented during his time at Folkestone. He joined Dulwich Hamlet in July 2019.
A powerful, hard-working and quick-witted forward with good movement and finishing, at FGS we feel now is the time for Ade to really kick on in his career and progress to the next level.
With the right guidance, support and more hard work, we are fully confident Ade can become an even better player and all-round goalscorer. We also believe he has the maturity, determination, level head and focus it takes to maximise his potential, and get to where he wants to be.
We are excited to be working with Ade as he looks to score more goals and reach the levels we firmly believe he is capable of.
Future is Yusuff!
Finn O'Mara signs with Future Global Sports
Future Global Sports is delighted to announce that Finn O’Mara has appointed us to act as his representatives on an exclusive basis.
O’Mara, 19, is a talented young centre-back who came through the ranks at League One outfit Gillingham FC, where he spent six years at the club’s academy and Under-23s. Prior to that he excelled for Kent’s regional youth teams, where he was captain of the side.
O’Mara made four first-team appearances for the Gills during his time at the club.
His professional debut for the Gills came in 2017/18 as a substitute, coming off the bench against Blackburn Rovers in a League 1 fixture at Ewood Park.
Three days later the centre-back started in the club’s 1-0 win over Colchester United in the Checkatrade Trophy at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, keeping a clean sheet, before making his full league debut the following weekend at home to Portsmouth, a game which was live on Sky Sports.
His final appearance for Gillingham came in the 7-5 win over Reading in the Checkatrade Trophy on November 7, 2017. Upon leaving the club Gillingham were keen to place on record praise for O’Mara’s ‘hard work, dedication and professionalism.’
A powerful, physical, vocal and committed player, who can also play centre midfield or right-back, at FGS we firmly believe that with the right guidance, support and hard work the future remains very bright for Finn.
We are excited to be working with him as he looks to push up back to the level we firmly believe he is capable of.
Currently at Folkestone Invicta, the club have registered 6 clean sheets in 17 games since O’Mara joined, going from relegation battlers to promotion contenders after a very good run of form.
The hard work starts now and we're thrilled to be going on the journey with him. Future is O’Mara!
